Geography, Introduction, 7.5 hp

The course offers a broad introduction to Geography as a discipline: terms, concepts, the geographic perspective, sources and methodology, providing basic knowledge of the natural landscape and the way in which it is exploited and changed by human activity. The origin and variability of different geographic environments around the world are discussed, applying a specific focus on natural resources, populations and the environment, and giving an insight into human living conditions, as well as the question of sustainable development and resilience. The course further includes practical exercises in the use of maps, aerial photographs and satellite images as well as excursions. The course is suitable for prospective teachers.
