Physical Activity and Health, 7.5 hp

The course covers the basics of work physiology and the physiological adaptation to training and health promoting physical activity. The association between physical activity, health and disease, and also risk groups for inactivity will be addressed. Dose-response associations as well as factors that determine activity and inactivity will be discussed. Historical and current recommendations to promote health and prevent disease in relation to physical activity and nutrition are covered thoroughly. A part of the course comprises the basics in assessment methodology for assessing levels of physical activity and fitness. This part includes practical elements.
The above mentioned knowledge is useful in all types of work that require a deeper understanding of scientific basis of the health effects of physical activity.
