Dance and Cultural Theory, 7.5 hp

Second level, Part time

The theme of this course is dance, the body and cultural theory. It takes up a variety of essentialist and constructivist perspectives which are examined in relation to lived experience, discursive formations and historical contexts. The course theme also covers a variety of theories about the body as well as considering how ethnicity, race, nationality, gender and sexuality are integrated within different areas of dance. Classes take place during one intensive week, the first week in April 2012 (full time). Examination in early May.
