Course Aim and Learning Outcomes The aim of the course is to impart knowledge of basic grammatical structures in Latvian texts, utilize a basic vocabulary in Latvian, apply the basic rules for Latvian pronunciation, and express oneself in writing and orally in basic Latvian. This is a distance learning course, which utilizes the university’s Athena web-based platform. The language of instruction is English.

Contents and Methods of Instruction The course consists of 8 modules. You work with one module per week, where you practice Latvian grammar, pronunciation, morphology, syntax, oral and written language proficiency. Assignment submission deadlines are an obligatory part of the course. Completion of the obligatory assignments are necessary in order to participate in subsequent examinations. There are no physical class meetings on campus during the course.
