The purpose of the course is to conceptually define East Asian history as a part of world history, moving from an earlier historiography dominated by a eurocentric view towards a more global view, which comprises intraregional perspectives on national identity and history as well as international relations. The students are trained in critical analysis of Chinese, Japanese and Korean history (mostly modern history) and historiography, political rhetoric and debate on tradition versus modernization.
Area of interests: Language and Linguistics
Languages open doors to other cultures, experiences, business contacts and collaboration between countries. At Stockholm University you can study nearly 30 different languages.
