The advanced course in organic synthesis provides a deeper understanding of the reactivity and properties of organic compounds. The covers the following topics:
Practical synthetic methods for the preparation of more complex organic compounds based upon useful transformations of common functional groups. Detailed reaction mechanisms of the studied transformations.
Stereoselective synthesis
Organometallic chemistry including the use of organometallic catalysts in the synthesis of organic compounds.
Advanced laboratory exercises including a multi-step synthesis of a complex organic compound.
