Ceramic materials are found in many applications, such as bioceramics. These bioceramics are used to repair, replace and strengthen destroyed functions in the human body. To meet the future demands, a fast development of these materials is necessary and also a deeper understandning of the relation between a materials physical properties, structure and chemical base. This course will provide an introductory guide to various aspects of ceramic processing and microstructure characterization with a focus in bioceramics. The course will also discuss the interaction between the human body and the implanted bioceramic. The course is a recommended course in the Masters program in Materials chemistry at Stockholm University.

Science and mathematics help us understand how the world around us is connected – from the origin and structure of the universe, to the development and function of humanity and all other organisms on earth. Scientific knowledge makes it possible to critically examine the credibility of information in different areas of everyday life, society, and the media. As a scientist or mathematician, you will be attractive on a large job market that covers all parts of society and includes everything from pure technology companies to environment and healthcare, as well as research.
