The course covers National Literatures from different eras in the Romance Language area. Theories on how and by whom a national literature has been defined is discussed. Furthermore, it will discuss historical and sociocultural factors that contributed to the creation of a specific national literature in the Romance language area. The course provides in addition an overview of the different Romance literatures and how they have developed in different parts of the world and how these literatures can relate to each other based on perspectives from comparative literature science.
