Modelling of Processes in Cell Biology

The course focuses on mathematical modelling and computer simulation of nerve cells, neuronal networks and other physiological and biochemical structures and processes.

Methods for mathematical modelling and computer simulation of biological processes and functions. The nervous system (nerve cells and neuronal networks) and other organ systems. Intracellular processes; biochemical networks, enzyme kinetics, cell signalling, genetic networks and switches. Biological morphogenesis and some current theories of biological perception, learning and memory.

  • Course structure

    The course consists of three elements; theory, practical exercises and project.

    Note that this course is taught and examined together with DD2435 at KTH, but the project is half the size of that in KTH's course, which is why it is worth 1.5 credits as rather than 3 credits as at KTH.

    Teaching format

    Instruction consists of lectures and practical exercises.

    Assessment
