Analytical chemical ecology is an interdisciplinary research area with focus on identification and function of natural products produced by organisms and used in their communication. In this course we will introduce the use of the most common analytical chemistry tools to be able to study chemical signals. We will use chemical signals from microbes, arthropods and plants both within terrester and aquatic systems to exemplify the techniques. After the course the students will know how to plan experiments for identifying chemical signals in important interactions, to use the instruments and tests the chemical signals on selected organisms. Both undergraduate and Ph D students are welcome to participate.
