The programme will also provide you with advanced knowledge about translation theory and research in this area, sound knowledge of terminology management as well as knowledge about and practical experience of how to make effective use of relevant aids. During the course of the programme, theoretical modules alternate with more practical ones. The theoretical modules include Translation Theory, Text Analysis and non-literary translation, Terminological Theory and terminology management. The practical modules involve practice translation from your source language, assessment of translations, information searches, terminology etc. The professional working conditions for translators are also analysed and discussed. Compulsory courses in the Theory of Science and Academic English have to be included for your master’s degree. For your degree thesis, you can choose between two alternative options. You can either produce an advanced translation and combine it with a scholarly analysis or write an entirely theoretical thesis. A total of 30 hec may be awarded for options, which will enable you to tailor your own individual programme. If you have taken undergraduate courses in a language other than your source language for the programme you may, on certain conditions, also include translation from this language in your master’s degree.
