Masters Programme in English Linguistics, 120 ECTS

The MA in English Linguistics offers higher-level courses in linguistic argumentation, syntax, semantics, Old English and Middle English, and prepares students to complete a dissertation on aspects of English linguistics. Overall this programme aims at providing students with specialist skills of linguistic analysis at a high level of competence. This programme is taught over four semesters. In the first semester you will take a 15 HEC course on linguistic argumentation plus two 7.5 HEC courses on syntax and research ethics. In the second semester you will take a 15 HEC course in sociolinguistics and two 7.5 HEC courses in Old English and academic English. The third semester comprises four 7.5 HEC courses in phonetics, Middle English, semantics, plus an optional course to be decided later.
