The two-year programme offers advanced theoretical, methodological, and work-related knowledge of the field of journalism.

The programme gives the student the qualifications to apply for the PhD programme, and offers advanced knowledge of journalism as a profession.

Parts of the programme are held in English.

The Master’s programme addresses current theory and method discussions on journalism with a grounding in professional practices. Particular attention is placed upon how change in the media world affects journalism as both an institution and a profession. This is carried out from an international perspective as well as in relation to different cultures and social groups. Different forms and genres of journalism are analysed and applied, including the interaction between text, image, and sound, with particular focus upon feature journalism.

The programme combines professionally-oriented practical exercises with academic analysis. Among the options are practical work experience at an editorial office.
