Scientific Computing is a young science that includes mathematics, computer science and natural science applications. By the use of mathematics one can e g perform realistic animations in computer games, describe orbits of planets, or design secure and energy efficient vehicles. Computers are used for efficient stimulation of mathematical models formulated in different applications, and to illustrate the solutions and effects in the choice of design parameters. The combination of mathematics and modern software development makes those trained in scientific computing very useful for work within many labour sectors such as the manufacturing industry, consulting business, and research work and education. After graduation you will likely get your first job through your knowledge of modern program development/mathematical software, object oriented programming and high performance computing. It is also possible to study on the Masters level. The Bachelor’s Programme in Scientific Computing is focused on basic mathematics and program development, with elements of mechanics and physics modelling. Emphasis is put on numerical analysis, algorithms, software and program development for scientific problems.
