Professional biology-earth scientists are key actors in environmental issues on all levels, from the local to the global, and in both the public and the private sectors. Within the EU there is an expanding market for consultants and administrators in this field, focusing on nature inventories, analyses of environmental consequences, and environmental investigations. There are also many opportunities for biology-earth scientists in environmental research at universities.

The two-year Master’s Programme consists of 120 credits: 30 credits Compulsory advanced courses in biology 30 credits Compulsory advanced courses in physical geography 30-60 credits Optional courses. 30-60 credits Thesis (mandatory)

Biology courses offered within the compulsory module include terrestrial and aquatic ecology, landscape ecology, and conservation ecology in slots of 7.5 or 15 credits. Courses in physical geography offered include international or national environmental management and planning, and ecological geography – mapping, analysis and visualization, 15 credits each.

The number of optional courses taken will be dependent on the period of time devoted to the Master Thesis, which may extend over one or two terms.
