The Master program in Geology focuses on the petrologic and tectonic processes that have shaped our planet, from the effects of plate tectonics on Earth’s climate system and the development of life over hundreds to millions of years, to understanding magmatism, deformation, and earthquakes at timescales of anthropogenic relevance. The newly established PetroTectonics Centre reflects our research strengths in petrology and tectonics. The Centre’s research includes projects emphasizing deformation and microstructures, tectonics and magmatism, and fluid flow and chemical transport. The Centre’s analytical capabilities include a new XRF, ESEM and EBSD, in situ deformation experiments, as well as sample preparation facilities.
