Bachelor's Programme in Computer Science and Software Engineering, 180 ECTS

The bachelor programme in computer science for those who like to identify, formulate and solve problems. Compared with the bachelor programme in computer and systems sciences, the computer science programme provides you with more specialized knowledge of programming and several courses about how software applications are constructed. What is common between them is that you work with development that puts the user in focus. With a degree in computer science, you have the skills to work with programming and systems development whether in the development of small or large systems, traditional software applications, Web applications or other internet solutions.

In the education, you learn amongst other things, about how computers are programmed, how people interact with computers, how data is stored and how software projects are led. Having technical knowledge about computers or experience of programming are not prerequisites for the education, but rather being able to bring yourself into new areas and to be a problem solver. The setup is largely practical with programming assignments and you work in a modern computer environment with many group assignments.

During the three years you study subjects such as programming, systems development, algorithms, human-computer interaction, computer systems and networks, testing and project management. You also study research methodology as a preparation for your bachelor thesis.

The department of computer and systems sciences (DSV) is situated in KISTA. DSV belongs to the faculty of social sciences at Stockholm’s university as well as the Royal institute of technology (KTH). This double association means that DSV can offer a wide range of courses.
