Masterprogram i informations- och kommunikationsteknik för utveckling, 120 hp

The programme is intended for those who would like to broaden and deepen their knowledge of ICT (information and communication technology) and business administration, its management and applications to the developing world. The course language is English.

The general structure of the programme consists of four different themes:

Development theme. Issues specific to developing countries are discussed. This includes an introduction to ICT for development and courses addressing topics such as low bandwidth communication, open source software, and computer mediated services.

Management theme. This theme will give the students basic background knowledge in business administration such as investment calculus and management of information technology.

Project theme. In the third semester, the students have acquired a general background and some special skills and knowledge. These skills are utilized in a project on a topic like eHealth, eLearning, eGovernment, or similar. Students from differing backgrounds will participate in projects together. This will bring interdisciplinary strength to the projects.

Thesis theme. In preparation for thesis writing, the students take two courses on theory of science and scientific writing. The programme ends with a master’s thesis, written either alone or in groups of two. The subject chosen should reflect knowledge gained during the programme.
