The aim of this Master’s programme is to increase students’ knowledge of the processes and dynamics of globalisation; and to help them understand how corporations develop adaptive responses to those challenges. The programme covers various aspects of managing firms on an international scene; how they generate strategies and organise for international business; how they analyse and select appropriate markets and market entry modes; how they develop and market their products, manage international operations and leverage their financial and human resources. Courses in the first semester provide a comprehensive view of the dynamics of globalisation and its implications for firms´ international business behavior. At this stage, students may choose two electives, depending on their interest and specialisation. During the second semester students with a Bachelor’s Degree from a Swedish or Nordic university will have the opportunity to spend this semester abroad at one of our partner universities. Students with a degree from other countries will be enrolled in other courses at the advanced level offered by Stockholm University School of Business. During the third semester, students will take three compulsory courses and one elective. One deals with global markets and marketing, the other with organisational change. The third course is designed to introduce students to the dominant research paradigms within the social sciences. The fourth semester is devoted to the completion of a Master’s thesis. The thesis is expected to be a scientific piece of work with a contribution that advances research. The programme is expected to attract students with various backgrounds and competencies. In this way, the programme prepares the students for the organisational dynamics of firms operating in an international, multi-cultural context, as well as studies at research level.
