Computer game development is a growth sector where technical disciplines meet design, artistic formation and storytelling. The programme gives you the knowledge, understanding and skills in computer games development, and also the social phenomena that occur around computer games and computer gaming in, for example, online gaming.

The education is focused on computer game development for professions such as game designer or game programmer, but also gives you knowledge appropriate for other activities in the computer area. These include for example, animator, prototype creator, application developer and interaction designer. In addition, skills in the minor fields such as 3D graphics, that are generally useful in a variety of industries. During the education, you will also get insights into programming, development projects, simulation and graphical visualization, which gives you a great academic width.

There are two branches of the programme, construction and design. You can mix courses from the two branches if you want to get a profile that suits you. The programme includes both large and small projects which gives you the opportunity to test your own game ideas and design your own games.

The programme is a three-year full-time education that will give you a bachelor’s degree. You may also want to build on it with further studies in Computer and systems sciences and get a Masters degree.

Department of Computer and Systems (DSV) is located in Kista. DSV belongs to both the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology. This dual membership means that DSV can offer a wide range of courses with different focus and content for students with different backgrounds and interests.
