Statistical data play a key role in different areas of our society. It applies in areas such as unemployment, inflation, income inequality, welfare, public opinion polls, ecology, or GDP. IT development has led to produce more, faster and better statistical data today than before. Today much of social and behavioral research is based on sample surveys or general statistics. The need for skilled researchers and statisticians has increased and can be expected to increase even more in the future. The Master’s Programme in Survey Methodology and Official Statistics will train and give you greater ability to do surveys, to produce interesting information from available sources, and critically interpret and use statistics. The training will be conducted in cooperation with Statistics Sweden and private survey companies. It consists of three parts: general theoretical basis for all types of statistics, courses that are especially appropriate for those who want to work with surveys or official statistics and, finally, practical work in different courses and a master thesis. After completing the training, you will have good qualifications to work as statistician or as a survey leader in private companies or in government organizations or to continue with graduate studies in statistics.
