Are you interested to contribute to a more sustainable and less vulnerable information Society? Information Security is a part of Computer and Systems Sciences where we study how to handle the great challenges to secure information, data and communication incurred by a global interconnected world. Users of all sorts – ordinary man, organizations and nations – need to feel secure and have trust in the information systems, be it for health records, economic transactions or some other work or private related reason.

To wisely and knowledgably work or do research within information security needs multidisciplinary views; it is therefore an advantage to combine studies in information security with other disciplines such as economics, political science, law and behavioral sciences. Interests and knowledge in wider areas of computer and systems sciences as well as more technical-mathematical areas are also of use. It is a truly an inter-disciplinary and holistic task to secure information and communication systems.

DSV offers courses blending technical and organizational perspectives on ICT-related security issues. You may also take single courses to combine with other tracks or choose a full ICT security orientation. The following courses are offered during first and second semester: General Systems Theories focusing on Control of Systems (Säk1a) is a methodology course where you learn how to approach security interdisciplinary and holistic.

Information and Computer Security (Säk1b) introduces you to general techniques and methodologies to secure information and data.

Network Security (NETSEC) introduces you to techniques and methodologies to secure information and data during communication.

Software Engineering and Security Architecture (ID2008) presents techniques and methodologies for the architecture level as well as discussed how software in general can be more trustworthy.

Legal Aspects of Information Security (IV2021) focuses on European legislation including discussing various aspects of importance for business applications.

Security Management (IV2022) is oriented towards how vulnerabilities, threats and risks to business and organizations systematically can be handled to comply with legal, technical and organizational and human aspects including acknowledging multi cultural and ethical aspects.

Apart from above listed courses further advanced courses are available.
