The course has an historical and contemporary perspective, examining the concept of “theatrical event” and discussing it in its various forms. The course will discuss the term in relation to various approaches to Performance Studies research and theory such as: reception theory, the theory of acting, dramaturgy, performance analysis, etc. Gender theory and feminist theory will be central throughout as a variety of issues are taken up and problematised during the course.
